McDonald’s Australia will close and clean 12 restaurants after a truck driver, who visited each of them, tested positive for COVID-19.
The delivery driver from an external company was in contact with staff members while he carrying the disease without knowing.
A spokesperson for McDonald’s Australia explained the decision was made “out of an abundance of caution” at the 12 restaurants in Victoria.
“The truck driver made deliveries to 12 restaurants and interacted with a small number of restaurant employees on each occasion while asymptomatic and unaware they had contracted COVID-19.”
Anyone who had close contact with the truck driver during his deliveries has been told not to return to work for 14 days and should get tested for COVID-19.
After a deep clean of the restaurants, all will re-open as usual. The McDonald's spokesperson also confirmed no other employees have tested positive for COVID-19.
