Maggie Beer's daughter tragically dies, aged 46

Maggie Beer has announced that her daughter, Saskia Beer, has sadly died unexpectedly in her sleep, aged just 46.

The Great Australian Bake Off judge, 75, posted the news on Instagram on Sunday evening, and asked fans for 'time and space' as they 'grapple to come to terms' with their loss.

Like her mum, Saskia was a brilliant cook who worked in the Barossa Valley. Following in her mother's footsteps, she launched Saskia Beer Farm Produce at Nuriootpa in 1997.

She died leaving behind husband, Petar Jercic, and three children. Peter and Saskia got married just last year.

“It is with broken hearts we need to let you all know that our beautiful, extraordinary daughter Saskia died unexpectedly yet peacefully in her sleep on Friday night,” Maggie captioned a photo on Instagram of Saskia with her husband.

She added,  “We ask for time/space as we grapple to come to terms with our loss and appreciate all the support we have been given.”

Saskia's husband Petar also posted a similar tribute to his wife saying,

"It is with broken hearts we need to let you all know that Saskia, our beautiful, extraordinary daughter, sister, wife and mother died unexpectedly yet peacefully in her sleep on Friday night. The business Saskia grew and loved will continue on with me, her loving husband.
We ask for time and space as we grapple to come to terms with our loss and appreciate all the support we have been given."

Our thoughts are with Maggie and all her family at this time.
