"I was so happy when I thought I got the last 3-in-1 Air Fryer only to be disappointed," she wrote on social media.
Like many people, a Sydney-based Kmart-shopper was on the hunt for an air fryer. She was so excited when she discovered a single 3-in-1 air fryer on the shelf at Kmart.
Unfortunately, she got an unpleasant surprise when she got home and opened her new appliance.
Deb took to The IKEA, Kmart, Target, Big W, Aldi, etc - Hacks & Product Reviews Australia Facebook group to share her experience. She posted pictures of her air fryer, pointing out that the interior of the appliance seemed to be lined with dirty grease and "sticky" oil.
“I was so happy when I thought I got the last 3-in-1 Air Fryer only to be disappointed when I opened it to see that it had been used,” she said on Facebook.
Fellow group members commented, suspecting that someone had probably used the appliance and then decided to return it without properly cleaning it.
Many even said that the previous owner might have bought themselves a new air fryer, “put their old one back in the box" and then returned it to Kmart for a refund.
The poster also shared that, upon further inspection, the air-fryer was missing its oven racks, but had the original protective foam in place, making it appear like new.
When she took the appliance back to Kmart, Deb reported that the staff were upset to hear what happened, and the incident is to be investigated.
