Elliot Stabler is back, but this time he's taking on the mob.
For 12 seasons of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Detective Stabler solved crimes that, in the criminal justice system, are considered especially heinous.
His partner, Detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), was both is work-wife and closest friend. Together, they cleared the streets of scumbags.
A father of five, sometimes Stabler got too close to his cases, but that's why we love him.
His exit from the show in 2011 saw Christopher Meloni suddenly written off with Stabler sadly retiring from the force.
But now, your favourite detective is coming out of retirement! NBC has given a 13-episode order to Law & Order: SVU creator Dick Wolf, starring Christopher Meloni as Elliot Stabler.
That said, he won't be back with Olivia and the team.
The show will revolve around Stabler as the new head of the NYPD Organised Crime Unit. But don't lose hope - this could still be ripe for a potential reunion!
The show's writers have never shied away from a cross-over with SVU and other Chicago crime-dramas, so imagine the possibilities when Stabler and Benson, who is now the Captain of the unit, meet up in the same city!
Binge watch Law & Order: Special Victims Unit everday on Foxtel's Universal channel and On Demand.
