ALDI’s warning to shoppers ahead of popular Special Buys Sale

The retailer is asking customers to be patient as their Special Buy stock is impacted by Covid 19.

Up until recently, ALDI remained one of the few retailers whose stock hadn’t been impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic.

But now the retailer is telling customers not to expect to find one particular item on shelves during their September 9 Special Buys sale.

Warning their customers on Facebook, they wrote: “COVID-19 has impacted the delivery of some of our Special Buys. The 16L Multifunction Air Fryer and Pastry Maker have been impacted by shipping delays resulting in limited stock availability in our stores.

"We apologise in advance for any disappointment this might cause our customers, and remind everyone to shop with kindness in this challenging time."

The store’s air-fryers are a cult-buy for fans and are known to be hard to get your hands on.

The Pastry Maker – ALDI’s version of the popular Kmart Sausage Roll Maker – was also set to be a must-have item among shoppers.

The warning comes as rival retailers like Kmart also struggle to manage customer demand during the pandemic.

ALDI fans quickly took to Facebook about the stock shortage, warning their family and friends that the popular item would be even harder to get this time around.

“You best be there super early,” one person commented. “Don't think I've got any chance.”

“[In case] you were thinking of getting one, they might run out even quicker," commented another.

However, other shoppers said it was ‘nothing new’ saying they’d seen ALDI stock low for some time.

"This is nothing new, you can hardly get any of the special buys as you don't get enough of them in the first place," one shopper wrote.

“What’s new, same as always except blaming Covid this time," another frustrated shopper said.

Another responded, "Exactly what I was thinking...at least they have something to blame now I guess. Lol."

"Covid-19 hasn't been around for 10+ years? Always limited stock," added another.

If you live in Victoria however, you won’t have any chance of taking home any of the popular products.

ALDI have also issued a statement saying that they have removed the air-fryer, Smart Wi-Fi 3L Thermo Cooker, 14 Place Stainless Steel Dishwasher and Electric Oven from all Victorian stores due to stage 4 Coronavirus lockdown.

"Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we have removed this Special Buys product from all Victorian state stores, Albury and Lavington. We apologise for any disappointment this might cause our Victorian customers,” it says on the ALDI website.

"We understand that not all our Victorian stores are under Stage 4 COVID-19 restrictions, but we believe it is the right thing to do to ensure the safety of our community in this challenging time. We look forward to bringing these products back at a later date."
