ALDI is selling Cookie Butter Spread as good as Biscoff and its flying off shelves

Shoppers have discovered the store’s latest Special Buy and it's delicious.

ALDI’s latest Special Buy is flying off shelves thanks to its tasty resemblance to Biscoff – a popular cookie spread that’s picked up a cult following in Australia.

The ALDI version is called Cookie Butter Spread and is available in smooth and crunchy.

“Is it like Biscoff?” One Facebook follower asked. “Yes! Tastes very similar,” another replied.

Biscoff is a cookie butter spread popular in countries like Belgium and France as a breakfast peanut butter on toast alternative.

But the biscuit spread has become a popular dessert ingredient, especially here in Australia where it is often sold out.

While others said you can never out do Biscoff, the ALDI version comes pretty close.

“Nothing beats biscoff though... but these are good when you're out of it,” one person shared.

Needless to say, the ALDI spread has been flying off shelves with people putting it to the test.

One ALDI shopper who picked up the spread as part of the store’s Special Buys shared her find with fellow shoppers asking if they could share ways to use the spread in recipes.

“Did I buy on impulse... Yes...Am I regretting my purchase... Heck no!” She said.

“Will I go back and buy some more... Yasssss!! Recipes anyone? Because atm, only recipe I have is a spoon.”

She was instantly flooded with dozens of suggestions from shoppers who had already discovered the delicious spread.

“Ohhh the biscoff one is apparently good in puff pastry in the air fryer! I feel this would be just a good. With ice cream added,” one suggested.

“Melted and mixed with whipped cream to make mousse,” said another.

“Just cut open a cinnamon donut... Air fry then spread, delicious!” commented a third.

Others suggested everything from buttercream icing to melted in banana bread.

However, other’s warned that if you have a sweet tooth, you’ll need to pace yourself.

“Not buying anymore!! Bought two jars and ate all by myself like miss piggy!! Then read how many calories and nearly had a fit!” one person shared.

"Don't buy these from ALDI! WARNING!!! Don't know what spell is on them but you will crave this and you will have to wait a year before you can buy them again. Happened to me twice," another said.

But if you are keen to give it a try, the only question left to ask is smooth or crunchy?
