Air fried Mars Bars are guaranteed to be your new dessert obsession

Whether you’ve impulse purchased an air-fryer recently or have a long-lasting obsession with one, this is your new go-to dessert recipe.

Australian’s are seriously having a love affair with their air-fryers at the moment, and for good reason.

You can basically whip up everything from easy desserts to healthy snacks (like Pizza Cruskits -yum!) in minutes and it’s providing some much-needed entertainment while in lockdown.

But this latest recipe might just be the best one yet. Introducing air-fried Mars Bars!

Sharing their recipe on the Share Kmart Air Fryer Recipes Australia Facebook page, members have been posting their versions of the delicious bite-sized desserts.

Here’s how to make them:

Ingredients:

  • Puff pastry
  • Mars bars funsized
  • 1 egg plus water wash
  • Powdered sugar

Method:

  1. Wrap mars bars in puff pastry. One sheet should be enough for four funsized mars bars. Coat with egg-wash.
  2. Place in the air-fryer for 10 minutes at 160 degrees. Turn and cook for an extra 3 minutes.
  3. Remove from air fryer and cover in powdered sugar. Enjoy!

There have been plenty of versions shared with many experimenting with how to get the perfect crisp pastry and melted mars bar.

“I love a good deep fried mars bar, and the puff pastry adds a healthier touch. Not sure if this has been posted before but roll mini mars bar inside a square of pasty, brush with milk and put in the air fryer for 10 minutes at 160°. Turn and cook for another 3 minutes for extra crispy,” one member wrote.

Some have even suggested freezing the mars bars before wrapping pastry to get the proper ‘fried mars bar’ effect, mimicking the ones that used to be available from milk bars.

Meanwhile, others have gotten even more creative coming up with flavour combos including Banana & Mars Bars spring rolls.

“Cut Mars bars in half then each half into thirds long ways. Cut banana into thirds and then in half. Rolled in spring roll wrappers (keep moist). Sprayed with vege oil, cook on 200 for approx 5mins, turned once,” another fan commented.
