Zendaya Calls Magazine Out for Photo Retouching

Pop rocket Zendaya,19, is fuming after a magazine recently retouched her images to make her look smaller.

Zendaya, a working model and singer, blasted independent fashion mag Modeliste for slimming down her legs and torso in a recent shoot.

“Had a new shoot come out today and was shocked when I found my 19 year old hips and torso quite manipulated,” she commented on Instagram, sharing the retouched and unretouched images side by side. “These are the things that make women self conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have. Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self love. So I took it upon myself to release the real pic (right side) and I love it.”

After the post went viral, Modeliste quickly pulled down the retouched images.

“Thank you @modelistemagazine for pulling down the images and fixing this retouch issue,”

This isn't the first time the popstar has been vocal about her thoughts. In February 2015, she called out Giuliana Rancic for a “outrageously offensive” remark during E!'s Fashion Police: “I feel like she smells like patchouli oil. Or weed. Maybe weed?”

Zendaya was quick to defend herself and speak up about the remark: “There is already harsh criticism of African American hair in society without the help of ignorant people who choose to judge others based on the curl of their hair. My wearing my hair in locs on an Oscar red carpet was to showcase them in a positive light, to remind people of color that our hair is good enough.”
