When it comes to their man’s nether regions, every girl likes it different. Some say that if you trim the shrubs around the base of a skyscraper, the whole building looks taller, whilst other ladies prefer the look of virility and ruggedness that comes with an ungroomed garden. However, a new survey conducted by personal beauty and technology giant Phillips reveals just how dramatically girls’ preferences for the hair-down-there varies around Australia. Let’s delve deeper (so to speak).
Among those that prefer their man’s engine room to be smooth and shiny, the grossest thing about an unkempt basement was deemed to be the fact that it looks dirty and messy. More than half the women polled in Western Australia found it to be unpleasant when they were intimate with their partner, but only 38% of NSW ladies agreed with them. However, a large amount of ladies thought that an out-of-control sausage roll reflected poorly on their man’s personal hygiene, with 44% of New South Wales ladies saying they found ungroomed pubic hair unhygienic.
However, as bad a rap as hairy genitalia gets, it’s nowhere near the title of ‘Grossest Body Part To Be Hairy’; that proud honour, my friends, is bestowed upon the back and shoulders region. That’s right, a whopping 80% of Queenslanders responded that they found a hairy back and shoulders to be the most repulsive of the hairy zones, with 75% of SA ladies and 72% of Western Australians agreeing with them. Interestingly, 59% of Victoria ladies felt the same way, so if hairy backs ARE your thing, we recommend a move down to Melbourne.
One thing is abundantly clear from this survey; different regions produce very different attitudes towards manscaping. South Australian women tend to favour the completely bare look, with NSW and Western Australia girls being the least impressed by a bald downstairs. WA women were found to be most likely to favour the untamed, au natural look, so if manscaping seems a bit too girly for you, Perth’s where you’ll be surrounded by like-minded girls who like a man to look like a man.
It wasn’t just the ladies’ responses to the survey which were revealing; the boys also had some interesting answers. The fellas were asked how frequently they trim their pubic hair, with 66% of Queensland guys admitting they’d never once had a down-low haircut. Given our earlier discovery that WA ladies favour the untamed look, a big surprise comes in the fact that Western Australian gents are eight times more likely to crop their pubic hair back in the summer than their SA, NSW and Queensland brothers. Trust us, Western Australian guys, the girls of your state have spoken, and free and easy is clearly the way to go!
