The Lucky You Juice Cleanse

Feel like you’ve lost the health and fitness battle? So did I. I decided I needed to do something drastic, to reset all my bad habits and get me back on track after months of summer celebrations and a general aversion to the gym.

I found the Luck You Cleanse, a 3 day juice detox, and decided that if it’s good enough for Miranda Kerr, then it’s good enough for me.

Why cleanse?

The basic theory is to remove harmful toxins from the body to restore inner health, regain energy and feel physically and mentally rejuvenated. Apparently these toxins can contribute to sinus issues, low energy and poor skin quality, just to name a few. The weight loss that usually comes from cleansing is a common (and very welcome) side effect.

The Lucky You cleanse offers the following benefits from their program:

  • Rebalance the body.
  • Oxygenate.
  • Alkalize the system.
  • Give digestion a rest.
  • Remove acidic build - up in the colon, to encourage proper nutrient absorption.
  • Re-hydrate the system.
  • Create better eating habits.

The fresh pressed juices are reportedly created from a special extraction method that’s new to Australia, which give the juices 3-5 times more vitamins and minerals than other juicing methods.

Sounds pretty good to me, and with Miranda Kerr’s endorsement, I’m sold me on the concept of not eating for 3 whole days:

‘'Lucky You juices are my first port of call when I arrive in Australia. These cold pressed wonder juices are essential to my health and well being, loaded with nutrients and anti-oxidants.”

What to expect

The program arrives the day before I am scheduled to start my cleanse. It’s delivered to my door with everything I need for the next 3 days.

The mornings begin with an elixir, which tastes like straight aloe vera to me, but that’s the worst of it. Throughout the day I sip on 5 different 500ml juices, packed with various fruit and veggies. They are numbered, and you need to drink them in the order they are labelled. I make sure, as instructed, to chew each mouthful to activate the digestive enzymes, which is surprisingly hard to remember and feels very silly while you’re doing it. That aside, they taste pretty good and keep me quite satisfied throughout the day.

In the evenings I finish up with nut milk, which is definitely my favourite. It tastes sweet and comforting and sends me happily to bed with a full belly each night.

The program also encourages you to exercise to help expel the toxins. With this in mind, I made an effort to walk every day and am glad I did. I slept like the dead and woke up each morning much earlier that normal and with a spring in my step. As a non-morning person, this was an immediate perk!

The results

After completing the cleanse, I had lost almost 2 kgs in 3 days - amazing! I was sleeping better, rising early, exercising and after almost 2 weeks I still can’t bring myself to put junk into my body.

It really did wonders for my attitude and made me feel great again. It gave me the kick in the butt I needed to refocus on my health and devote the time to my body that it deserves.

The Lucky You 3 Day Cleanse will set you back $225, which might seem expensive considering it’s all juice . However, when you take in to account that this is all your food and snacks for an 3 entire days, as well as knowing you’re investing in your health, I feel comfortable that the price is reasonable.
