The Aussie actress shares how her approach to health and wellbeing has changed, after her cancer diagnoses.
Tessa James, 24, always considered herself a health-conscious person, however since being diagnosed with cancer, she realised she needed to change her perspective. "I put too much pressure on myself and was focusing on the wrong result instead of listening to my body and essentially what my body needed," she shared with news.com.au.
The petite actress now follows the following mantra: "What does my body need today? How can I fuel it in the best way possible?"
Tessa shares the following four things as a foundation for great health:
1. Morning Ritual
Tessa aims to incorporate as much organic produce into her diet as possible. "Each day I try and start my day with lemon, ginger and hot water or if that's not available, a shot of apple cider vinegar".
To get an added boost of energy, Tessa swears by Elle Macpherson's Super Elixr. "I find it's one of the best taste wise. I mix it in my smoothie with a bottle of alkaline water or coconut water. Yum!"
3. Go Green
Tessa incorporates avocado into her diet for its health as well as skin care benefits. "I love avocado probably too much!" Some of the ways she integrates the green goodness into her diet are in a smoothie ("the avocado adds a real thickness to your smoothie"), half an avocado as a snack with some sea salt, avocado on crackers ("some of my favourites are KITZ organic vegan crackers") or avocado on spelt toast with chilli.
4. Natural Probiotics
"I try and have kombucha or sauerkraut at least once a day as I find it great for my digestion", Tessa shares. Some of her faovurite sauerkraut combinations are:
* Kehoes Kitchen beetroot and ginger
* Peace Love Kimchi Chilli
"I only drink natural or original kombucha as I find the other flavours have hidden sugars in them," she adds. "I also mix chia seeds in my kombucha for an added health kick and to change it up."
These four points help Tessa to be the best version of herself. "I combine these four things with lots and lots of water, sleep and regular exercise. I really enjoy caring for my body. I find the way in which I care for my body reflects in my skin, nails, fitness, mood and my energy."
"You don't have to do all of them, just find what works for you."
