Jo Frost introduces The Naughty Chair Technique to deal with children with behavioural problems. See how to use it to teach discipline in just a few steps.
Always give a warning. If your child is continuing to misbehave, warn them that if they keep doing so, they will have to sit in the Naughty Chair. If they misbehave again, follow these steps:
Step 1: Go down to the child’s level, using an authoritative voice.
Step 2: Explain why the child is on Naughty Chair.
The child has to stay on the Naughty Chair for 1 minute per year of age, and the time starts over every time the child gets up.
Step 3: Get the child to apologize.
