Do you think Selena Gomez gained a little weight recently? Well, she did, and she’s doesn't care. Selena takes about body-shaming and how she handles it.
During an On Air With Ryan Seacrest interview last week, the “Come And Get It” singer said that dealing with body-shamers is a brand new experience but that's she's prepared to handle it.
“I did gain weight, but I don’t care,” she tells Ryan Seacrest “I feel very empowered and confident in where I am. I think it took me a long while to get there because the past year was so interesting because I’ve never been body-shamed before. I dealt with a whole other set of issues—that was really interesting.”
“I posted this photo on Instagram and I was like, ‘There’s more to love and I’m happy with myself,’” Selena recalls. “The reason why I did that was because I didn’t want them to win. Because then the next day, it wasn’t about how I gained weight, it was about how I embraced it. And that’s just kind of my approach.”
And her new approach has also carried through to her new album 'Revival', which she says is more a matter of embracing self-worth.
“There’s nothing wrong with a woman being comfortable, confident—whatever it is that you feel. I love that,” she explains. “I love feeling like I’m in love and want to look good for someone, but at the same time, there’s no guy in my video. I’m saying I am a diamond.”
