Q&A with Tracey Jackson from Wife Swap Australia

Why did you choose to be a part of Wife Swap Australia?

I love the American and UK version and have always enjoyed the episodes where there has been a positive outcome when the families make changes and improve their lives.

How did you find the experience?

I found it very exhausting but the experience was definitely worth it. I became emotionally involved with the children and one in particular, so I found it difficult to leave. I feel a great sense of satisfaction knowing that I put in 100%.

What was the highlight of being involved on Wife Swap?

The highlight was being able to help such a large family make positive lifestyle and diet changes that will improve their quality of life.

What was the hardest obstacle or challenge you faced?

The biggest obstacles were being away from my family, not being able to go to the gym and not eating a balanced healthy diet.

What one thing did you take away from your experience that you'll apply to your own family life?

I have learnt not to judge people too quickly.

What do you think you taught the other family?

I was able to make the Daly family see that their lifestyle was not a healthy one and that their entire family would continue to put on weight unless they made some changes to their lifestyle. I was able to show the father that some of his children were very unhappy with their bodies and the consequences of this, which was a big thing. The parents had no idea that their children wanted to change. I was able to demonstrate how to live a healthy lifestyle by eating well and exercising daily.

I agree, it was great to see kids learning to eat healthy. It is such a horrible thing to be picked on at school and not like the way you live. I hope they keep up the good work

What was your motavtion to go to the newspaper and tell your story...you had your one hours fame...was it not enough ...self promotion. Yes ...Janine house was not filthly when you walk first walked.i will agree on one thing a healthier eating plan was needed but it is hard for such a large family to budget and throwing out their food has made it alot harder.maybe you need to remburse Shane and Janine for that..

who is this comment directed at, Both wives have done a Q&A so its not really self promotion also it seemed like Tracy did a fine job feeding the kids on the budget she had it was just the Dalys chose to go for quantity rather than quality which ment alot of junk which would of kept them wanting more rather than something healthy which may be as expensive for something so little but it would of kept them fuller for longer.

Sorry I didn't realise u were there when I entered the house ! And throw out food ? That's not food ! It's ... and belongs in the bin so those poor kids don't eat it . And reimbursed - I did that by buying poor boo a pair of runners so she had some and soccer balls etc .

I hope that she has developed a closer relationship to her children. While it is great that their relationship came first (the reason due to both of them having a lot of previous marriages) but the children still need YOUR TIME as an individual and as a family. Don't make them feel second rate. ONe day your spouse will die and your children will have a family of their own and put YOU at the bottom of their list as you did with them.

The show is only a compressed version of the real lives pls remember a weeks worth of filming compressed into 48 mins is difficult. I spend one on one time with aijha each day, drive her to and from school, both Russell and I have coached and managed one of her soccer teams, we were the only 2 parents to take 2 days off work to watch her compete in Brisbane rugby league challenge, last month a week at sunshine coast and last week a whole week in stradbroke island !! So don't believe EVERYTHING u see on tv .....

Tracy you did a fantastic job with the other family educating them about nutrition and exercise. I liked your approach with the family as you were direct but not judgmental! Your changes will inspire lots of Australians who watch the show :) you're daughters are a credit to you as they were so welcoming and kind to mrs Daley and willing to try her new rules. X
