Q&A with Nicola Barry from Wife Swap Australia

Why did you choose to be a part of Wife Swap Australia?

I wanted to show people that you can’t judge a book by its cover! Even though we look different on the outside, our values and life aren’t all that different from everyone else.

How did you find the experience?

The experience made me evaluate my whole life, it was tough but it made me appreciate what I have and the fact that my life suits me perfectly.

What was the highlight of being involved on Wife Swap?

The highlight for me was the fact that I met so many awesome people and I will remember them forever. On a whole it’s an unexplainable experience.

What was the hardest obstacle or challenge you faced?

The hardest challenge apart from being away from my family was that I was starved of affection; I was starved of HUGS, just that physical touch I missed.

What one thing did you take away from your experience that you'll apply to your own family life?

One thing I took from Wife Swap was the fact that sometimes you just have to stop thinking and worrying about money and just spoil yourself.

What do you think you taught the other family?

I think I taught the Montford family that you can’t judge people by the way they look. I think I also taught them or rather made them realise that they take their money for granted and live a life that’s filled with a lot of unnecessary waste.
