Olivia Newton-John's opened up about facing cancer for the third time...
In a heartbreaking interview, Olivia Newton-John has revealed she is battling cancer again with a diagnosis of stage four cancer, that has spread to her bones.
The actress and singer, who has always shied away from talking about her health, opened up to Channel 9’s 60 Minutes in a revealing chat about facing life with the disease, she has battled and beaten twice before.
The 70-year-old Grease star said, ‘I’m living with it. Every day is a gift, particularly now.”
ONJ also admitted she trusts in the power of positive thinking, believing death is a ‘long way away’.
“When you’re given a cancer diagnosis or a scary illness diagnosis, you are suddenly given a possibility of a time limit,” she admitted.
“If you believe the statistics, you’re going to make them happen. If somebody tells you, ‘you have six months to live’, very possibly you will – because you believe that.”
“So for me, psychologically, it’s better not have any ideas of what they expect or what the last person that had you have lived – so I don’t tune in, it’s just better for me.”
The Hopelessly Devoted To You singer, is treating her illness with a combination of conventional and alternative remedies, including medical marijuana grown for her by husband, John Easterling.
She credits medicinal marijuana with being a key component of her treatment and helping with sleep, anxiety and pain management and has stopped using morphine altogether.
Olivia has had to wind back her once fast-paced lifestyle of performing and is choosing to spend time with John and her daughter, Chloe Lattanzi.
"My body stopped me in my tracks and said… you can't move. Now you're going to have to look at everything and decide what you want to do," she told 60 Minutes.
"I'm loving being at home and supporting John… I have things going on but not live performances, so it's a really lovely time."
