Make the Most of the Summer Sun

Take advantage of Australia's warm summer weather by dining al fresco and engaging in a new fitness routine this season.

The mercury is climbing higher with every day, and before you know it the holidays will be here! Instead of hiding out in air-conditioned malls to beat the heat this summer, why not embrace it?

Make the most of the summer sun with these warm weather activities.

Sports and fitness

Summer is the perfect time to embark on a new fitness regime. Combine regular exercise with healthy meal plans and you'll feel like a new person in no time!

Studies show that exercising outdoors both improves your mental well-being and increases your energy levels above that of indoor exercise. Take advantage of the warmer weather and take your workout outside. Utilise the early morning and evening hours when the sun isn't as strong, and walk the dog, do yoga or jog along the beach.

You could encourage your family members to join you for a spot of twilight sport, such as backyard cricket or soccer. Not only will you have the chance to have some quality time together, but your health will improve as a result.

Take the time to have a quick dip or more leisurely swim in the ocean or local pool whenever you get the chance. Swimming is a great stress-buster, plus it's fantastic for your waistline.

Eat Outdoors

Dust off your barbecue and set up your outdoor furniture for a summer of eating al fresco. Decorate your backyard with fairy lights and candles, and make sure you have an insect-repellent candle at the ready! Eating outdoors can be a relaxed and luxurious experience for the whole family, and it can help keep you cool too.

Outdoor umbrellas help make this work during the heat of the day as they provide a shady spot to enjoy your summer salads and sandwiches, whereas evening meals can be enjoyed by candlelight.
