1) Have a goal.

 If you don’t have a goal, you’ll have no idea what you want to achieve. Do you want to lose just a few kilos? Do you want to be a certain size? Do you have a picture in your mind of how you want to look? Having a goal means you have something to work for, so figure out a goal and stick to it.

2) Reward yourself!

Give yourself a reward when you shed a certain number of kilos. Buy yourself a magazine, paint your nails or go to the hairdressers for a blow dry. Whatever you do, make sure that it feels like a reward for you.

3) Don’t deprive yourself.

Depriving yourself will only make you snack more. Do you want a chocolate? Eat it! Just remember to eat good quality dark chocolate and include it in your daily calorie allowance, and if you like, add more exercise into your routine so that you burn off any extra calories.

4) Treat yourself.

When you reach your goal, the idea is to follow the 80/20 rule – 80% good, 20% bad so if you need to have the occasional treat to keep you on track then go for it.

6) Buddy up!

Another great way to motivate you for exercise is to walk your pet. If you don’t have one, borrow someone else’s! Dogs have to be walked everyday, so get out of the house and get walking!

8) Buy your food groceries ahead of time.

9) Plan it out

If you think you won’t want to get up in the morning to exercise, pop your exercise clothes on in bed or lay them out right next to your bed the night before – if everything’s all there for you, you’ll be much more likely to get going in the morning!

This is easier said than done, but often people quit if the results they desire are not as fast as they’d like. Instead, keep at it – slow and steady wins the weight loss race!
