Kim Beach has the best advice on how to stay healthy while catching up with friends.
One of the most common questions I get asked is how to eat well when you are out socialising.
Often the food available at parties and social gatherings is laden with sugar and fat, and, temptation aside, it can be difficult to even find anything healthy to eat.
I choose to eat good food 95 per cent of the time as I love the way it makes my body feel. I also love to socialise with my friends, so over the years I have come up with a couple of strategies to ensure these two things can work side-by-side.
Firstly, if I am going to a place where I have zero control over the food, I always try and eat first. Being hungry can make it very easy to make poor food choices (it’s a bit like going to the supermarket when you are starving!) so I always make sure I arrive somewhere having eaten well beforehand.
My second strategy - and by far the best one, in my opinion - is to take something with you that you love to eat, even better if it’s something that looks and tastes amazing!
This is where my ‘go-to’ healthy platter comes in. It has lots of yummy, fresh ingredients and a lot of colour so it stands out on a crowded table.
The platter features eight simple recipes that your friends will love.
Put them on a plate together and you have a visual symphony of yummy healthy food!
I hope these recipes open your eyes to some delicious treats that you can enjoy every time you get together with family and friends.
