Whether it's best to lather up in the morning or at night has been a hotly debated topic since the dawn of time.
While some of us can't wake up without a splash in the shower, others would never even think about slipping between their crisp sheets without scrubbing away the daily grime. So, which camp has it right?
According to YouGov and Swedish beauty brand Foreo, the night-timers win.
Having a shower at night time is recommended since it washes all the nasties that can build up on your skin during the day, says dermatologist Dr Simon Zokai, who worked on the Foreo survey.
"It's an argument with some very vocal proponents on both sides but, when it comes to skincare, showering in the evening really is the best option, as it helps remove all of the make-up, oil, dirt and pollutants that have accumulated throughout the day,” general manager of Foreo, Boris Raspudic, says.
So, not only will your skin thank you for the nightly shower, but your bed will too. Showering at night means you will also avoid taking pollens and other pollutants to bed with you, Dr George Cotsarelis tells Time.
If you don't already, will you make the switch to a night-time shower?
