5 Tips to Increase your Intuition

No matter how large or small, every decision plays a part in creating our life. Here are 5 simple ways to tune into your 'true self' channel and get in touch with your inner GPS.

We are regularly faced with all kinds of decisions. From major ones like changing jobs or leaving a relationship, to daily ones like what to have for dinner, and whether to go to a certain event or not. No matter how large or small, every decision plays a part in creating our life. Our health, wealth, success and happiness are all products of our daily choices. 

What is 'intuition'?

When deciding which way to go we are often told to listen to our intuition, but what does that mean and how do we do it?  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we had some booming voice of clarity, or a super-strong gut instinct for every occasion?! Instead, we are often met by a multitude of conflicting thoughts and feelings belonging to our fears, doubts, beliefs, past experiences, family/social influences, and even ancestral cellular memory as proven by the scientific field of epigenetics. That amounts to a lot of noisy inner voices overriding the inner knowing that we all have on some level.

The 'true self' channel

Instead of gaining clarity, we find ourselves more confused than ever. It is like listening to several different radio stations at once – of course, we are going to hear static. In the midst of all that noise is our intuition or what I like to call our very own personal inner GPS. We need to find a way to tune into it. It starts by intentionally setting our dial onto our ‘true self’ channel.

Our ‘true self’ channel has all the information we need to get to where we most want to go, via the best possible route. When we are tuned in to this channel we find that certain situations unfold as if by magic. We experience regular synchronicities that are like Hansel and Gretel cookie crumbs signalling: “This way, this way.” We are guided step by step to make decisions that are in alignment with our soul’s best possible path and movement forward.

Here are some simple ways to tune in to your ‘true self’ channel and get in touch with your inner GPS.

1. Meditate

Imagine that you are directly connected to your true self channel with a special antennae. When your mind is clear this antennae is straight, able to send you guidance and inspiration that can lead to anything from love/work opportunities to unexpected finances. On the other hand, constantly going over things in your mind bends your antennae, clouding you from letting in the best possible solution. Practice stillness and silence for even just 10 min a day. Sit with your eyes closed, focusing on your breath as you inhale and exhale. 

2. Journal

Write ‘What do I need to know about .....?’ and let your pen flow. If you are new to journalling, at first it will feel like you are making it up. Trust what comes. It takes time and practice, but this is one of the most powerful ways I know to access your emails from your true self and download that GPS info!

3. Stay present and trust

Holding on to the past or worrying about the future is another way to bend your antennae! With a regular GPS you input your desired destination, and know you will be led one step at a time. You don’t drive your car thinking ‘What if this GPS doesn’t know what it’s doing? What if I get lost? Maybe I should have turned left back at that roundabout.' Yet we do this all the time with our intuition. We have placed more trust in our car’s GPS, than our inner GPS! Absolutely, write to-do lists, and set goals. Then, practice trusting in what you are guided to do, day to day, moment to moment. Get into the practice of asking yourself: What feels right to do right now?

4. Feel your feelings

Frustration, anger and numbness are all indicators that your true self and inner GPS are trying to communicate with you. Instead of repressing these emotional messengers with various addictions and distractions, take time to ask: What are you trying to tell me?

5. Take action

Your intuition is communicating with you constantly, but you could be in the habit of ignoring it or talking yourself out of whatever it is trying to say. Trust those inner nudges and see what happens when you follow their prompts!
