It can be all too tempting to give in to sugar cravings, but with some healthy meal plans in place, you should find that these become a thing of the past.
We've put together some top tips of how to prevent your desire for a sugar hit.
1. Choose fruit
When the body and mind demand something sweet, fruit can be a great alternative to reaching for the biscuit tin or a bar of chocolate.
Its natural sweetness should help to keep your cravings at bay, while also giving you a healthy boost.
2. Follow healthy meal plans
If you have a well-balanced diet, the chances are you won't experience cravings quite so often.
Healthy meal plans need to be well thought out so you are getting all the nutrition you need, leaving less room that you feel has to be filled with sweet treats.
3. Eat regularly
Another reason why people experience cravings is because they have deprived themselves of food throughout the day.
If you make sure that you eat regularly, this too will leave less room for those sugary snacks your body feels it needs.
4. Get enough sleep
People who aren't getting enough shut-eye will often crave sweeter foods as a means of getting the energy they need to survive the day.
Catching a few more hours under the sheets could do your health a world of good - and not to mention improve your mood!
5. Opt for dark chocolate
If you've tried all of the above and still struggle to keep your sugar cravings under control, why not turn to dark chocolate?
Choose a variety that has a minimum of 70 per cent cocoa solids - you won't want as much as you would with milk chocolate and it is much higher in antioxidants.
