Looking to shed a few pounds, or get into shape? Here are some of the diets to look out for this year.

Skinny Dipping diet

Don't be fooled by the title of this diet. As arousing as it sounds, it has less to do with swimming naked than eating healthily.

The focus is on dips - from guacamole and salsa to sour cream and chives. Dieters are encouraged to snack healthily on fresh veggies and low-fat dips, rather than reaching for a bar of Cadbury's - all while eating nutritious meals, too.

The 'Skinny Dipping' diet was devised by dietician Juliette Kellow, who explains: "Fresh dips can be a great choice for helping us to lose weight when they're included as part of a balanced, healthy diet that's lower in calories.

"For example, serving lower-fat dips like fresh salsa with vegetable crudités makes a healthy snack that helps you on your way to five-a-day." You're still allowed 1,400 calories a day, and if you follow the diet, it promises to help people lose around 10lbs.

I Diet

Italians are reported to have the lowest obesity rates in all of the EU, with lower combined rates of heart disease, cancer as well as lower levels of cholesterol. But just how do they do it?

Apparently, it's through a diet rich in lean meat, fresh fruit and veggies, and fish, all sprinkled with heart-healthy olive oil.

This has inspired Italian master chef Gino D'Acampo to create 100 Mediterranean-based recipes as a "stress-free way of losing weight.”

The resulting "i Diet" feels very indulgent and includes dishes such as spicy lamb meatballs for dinner, and roasted fruits with Grand Marnier for dessert.
