Matthew Hayden's Photo Album

Matthew Hayden is one of the most decorated opening batsmen in cricket history. He is also a committed family man, passionate about community development and his humanitarian endeavours, a businessman embracing his values and beliefs, a published chef of three cookbooks and now making his mark in the world of television.

Having begun his career in cricket at an early age facing off against his brother Gary on a home made turf pitch on the family farm, Matthew has travelled up the ranks gaining the respect of Australia’s elite cricketers. Australian captain Ricky Ponting said “you can look back through the history books of the game and try to see if there has ever been a better opening batsman in the game, let alone Australia.” Steve Waugh adds that Matthew’s fearless front foot stroke play has changed the game of cricket forever. He played 103 Tests for Australia spanning 15 years and was rated by Wisden, the game’s bible, as the best Test batsman of the decade spanning 1996-2006. While he retired from the Australian cricket team last year as the greatest batsman Queensland has ever produced, Matthew continues to win the hearts of fans in the Indian Premier League where he plays for the Chennai Super Kings, who won the Final of IPL 2010.

Matthew is more than just a champion on the field. Putting his worldly experiences to good use, Matthew entered the business of sport by creating The Hayden Way, which is an innovative recreation, leisure and lifestyle company also committed to the development of young talent and individuals through a 360 degree development philosophy of becoming champions in life.

A humanitarian and passionate about the community, Matthew has been involved in several charities including The McGrath Foundation and The Fatherhood Foundation, he is also an Ambassador for the Global Public School of Kerala in India and ‘Find Your 30’ Eat Well, Be Active campaign and is Chairman of the Indigenous Cricket and Co Patron of The Champagnat Trust – Marist College Ashgrove in Brisbane. In what undoubtedly cements his contribution as a valued Australian, Matthew was awarded a ‘Member of the Order of Australia’ honour earlier this year.

Matthew Hayden lives in the Queensland with his wife Kellie, daughter Grace and two sons Joshua and Thomas. It is here that Matthew embarks on his new venture that sees him learning how to live a more self-sufficient, sustainable and enriched lifestyle with his family which is documented in the Australian premiere series of Matthew Hayden’s Home Ground.
