We speak with industry professional Jane Irwin (Landscape Architect), Adrian McGregor (Landscape Architect), Colleen Morris (Landscape Heritage Consultant), Jack Merlo (Landscape Designer) and Richard Unsworth (Landscape Designer), about what they can't live without in their own backyard.
Here's what they had to say:
"Something you can't do without in a garden is some idea of nature. It doesn't even have to have plants necessarily..even if it's something abstract..a little piece of water or a motif". Jane Irwin, Landscape Architect/Garden Designer.
"You can't do anything without people in a garden because without people you wouldn't have a garden". Adrian McGregor, Landscape Architect.
"Plants! I can't do without plants." Colleen Morris, Landscape Heritage Consultant.
"I think it's got to be a usable space. Something that people can see themselves sitting in so whether it be built in furniture, or a swimming pool.. something that makes it usable area." Jack Merlo, Landscape Designer.
"For me in a garden I can't do without a pair of secateurs, and a good trawl because there's always something to weed or prune off. I like just getting in there and having a good clip." Richard Unsworth, Landscape Designer.
