Endless Summer™ Hydrangeas

The beauty of the Hydrangea is back in vogue with Fleming’s collection of Endless Summer™ repeat blooming varieties.

Ensuring gardens are blooming from early to late summer and often beyond, the Endless Summer™ collection are unique for their ability to continue flowering on old or new wood.

The Endless Summer™ collection, comprising the Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Bailmer’ Endless Summer™ The Original, and Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Blushing Bride; are fast becoming the world’s most sought-after Hydrangea with sales across Europe exploding.

Fleming’s director, Wes Fleming, said the popularity of the Endless Summer™ varieties which were developed in the United States, is unprecedented both in the USA and Europe.

“ Endless Summer are very new to Australia still, and word is just starting to spread on how beautiful and bountiful these plants are. In Europe growers are struggling to keep up with demand, and The States are busy developing new varieties,” he said.

“ Hydrangea’s have always been loved in Australia but they were renowned for their ‘one–bloom-wonder’ status. Now gardeners can be sure of blooms right through summer, they just continue flowering.”

Growers can further enhance the repeat flowering by pruning off spent (old) flowers.

Typically a blue ‘mophead’ flower, The Original can throw pink to purple blooms depending on pH levels of the site soil.

Blushing Bride also produces mophead flowers that initially emerge with pale green buds that break open to white blooms that will mature to a pale blush pink.

Fleming’s are set to introduce more varieties to the Collection in the coming years with a pink lace-cap (a flat or ‘floating’ cluster of smaller flowers) expected for release in summer 2011.
