Cleaning a Mouldy Patio

Shannon Lush reveals how to naturally clean a mouldy patio.

1. Use 1/4 teaspoon of oil of cloves in 1 litre of water, combine in a spray bottle and lightly mist it over the problem area.
2. Leave the solution on overnight.
3. The following day, scatter the problem area with course kitchen salt, give it a good hard scrub with a firm bristle brush and rinse away with water.
Note: You’ll need to re-do this treatment every month as a preventative.

Hi Shannon, I wondered if you have any advice for removing Hydraulic Oil from a clay paved driveway?

Is there another type of abrasive that will work, since salt will more then likely kill the grass around a patio?

Hi Shane, the LifeStyle Team here. According to Shannon Lush's book "Speed Cleaning", oil of cloves essentially acts to inhibit mould.
