Charlie Wins Silver at the Chelsea Flower Show!

Our very own Gardening expert and host of Selling Houses Australia, Charlie Albone, has won a Silver-Gilt medal at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show in London. Congratulations to Charlie and his team!

We are excited to announce that Charlie Albone has won a Silver-Gilt Medal at the Royal Horticulatural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show - the biggest and most acclaimed flower show in the world. Charlie and his team have been working hard over the last two years to bring the project to fruition.

His garden display, sponsored by Husqvarna and Gardena, was entered in the 'Show Garden Category' and titled 'The Time in Between.' Charlie was thrilled to be nominated to exhibit at Chelsea, let alone be awarded a medal, and says the whole experience has been an incredible milestone on both a personal and professional level.

"My garden is inspired by the death of my father when I was aged 17. The space is a garden to meet with him and tell him about my life since his passing - a space to celebrate life but to also be emotive and intimate," says Charlie.

The garden is divided into 3 sections: The first section celebrates life with beautiful and romantic planting; the water feature in the next section reflects the emotions felt at the loss of someone close, as it can empty in a matter of seconds; and the rear of the garden is an intimate space to sit, connect and communicate with loved ones.

After 18 months of planning, Charlie and his team were doing 13 hours days in the lead-up to judging to ensure they had enough time to spend planting and letting the garden settle so it looked its best.

"The judging was very nerve racking, and we missed out on a gold medal as it was only our hedge that let us down - it needed a few more leaves apparently! The competition was really tough but it's great to be part of such a prestigious year."

You can see more photos of the garden and follow Charlie's journey here.

The life-changing experience has clearly left a lasting mark on Charlie. "I am loving all the great comments from people that came to the show," he says. "With the experience shared and memories made, I feel like I won best in show."

Charlie's amazing journey to exhibit at the Chelsea Flower Show has also been filmed for a special series to go to air on The LifeStyle Channel later this year. Watch this space and our Facebook page for details!

I love that part with the fire place. Looks like something between a city from the roman empire (columns) and California (palm trees). I wonder if I can make something like that for myself with the colleagues from Paul's Landscaping.
