Beat The Summer Heat

Summer is a great time to make the most of the outdoors, but it's important to safe-gaurd yourself from the harsh summer sun - sunstroke is not a good look!

Bunnings National Leisure Buyer, Cam Rist, shares his top tips for beating the heat this summer:

• Invest in a UV resistant umbrella or gazebo over the warmer months. They are a great option for those not wanting a permanent shade area and can be easily packed away when not in use.

• Sometimes it can be just as hot indoors as it is outdoors. A great way to cool down your home is to install energy efficient fans and coolers. These will keep your home cool all summer long whilst also being environmentally friendly. Head into your nearest Bunnings store and speak to an expert team member about which cooler is right for your home.

• As the temperature warms, crawling and flying insects come out to play. A great way to combat pests is to install a solar-powered bug zapper outside. Citronella candles and oil lamps also work well and are an environmentally friendly solution to ridding your outdoor area of pesky insects.

• Always remember to switch off air conditioners and fans when not in use. This will reduce energy costs.
