EXCITING NEWS! River Cottage is coming to Australia! And this is your chance to be the new 'Hugh!'
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is a chef, self-sufficiency expert and “real food” campaigner, known for his back-to-basics philosophy.
He’s on a mission to spread his mantra of good food, sustainability and passion for local ingredients to the Australian people.
After more than 15 years on his English River Cottage farm, Hugh is heading to the other side of the world in search of someone ready to take on the challenge of becoming a self-reliant farmer in a rural location.
Hugh will pass everything he’s learned to a willing “Aussie” disciple. The new “Hugh” will have the same passion and verve for living off the land, someone who can take his good living principles and build on them, someone who can take forward the message of River Cottage and lay the ground for a sustainable future.
If you think you have what it takes, apply now!
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall said: "It’s brilliant to be taking River Cottage Down Under. Australia’s a country I have long wanted to get to know. We’ve had some lovely Aussies visit us here at River Cottage in Devon and it’s high time I repaid the compliment.
“I know there are great things happening with local, seasonal wild foods and I can’t wait to tap into them. And I’m looking forward to meeting some Aussie Hughs. At least I think I am!"
Fearnley-Whittingstall will visit Australia for the first time when production commences in early 2013.

courses while in Australia. I love to cook and preserve
Foods but we are a long way from self-sufficiency.
However I aspire to being self sufficient one day.
Every day, with Hugh's help is another step forward.
My son catches fish which he scales and I fillet. I bottle
