Zoning Large Space With Rachel Luchetti

Open plan living is in vogue at the moment – but how do you turn a big open space into a cosy interior?

Aim to create intimate areas without using walls. Start with rugs to define your areas and use furniture to help partition space. Turn your lounge seating in on itself to create a conversation pit. Mix styles to give the zones even more personality. Big artworks and large patterns will match the proportions of the room.

Tuck study spaces out of sight and away from the lounge area. No thinking about work when you are relaxing!

The final trick is to arrange to allow you to meander through the space, rather than taking a straight path from the front door to the back door. Avoid meaningless dead zones. Make use of all your space.
