Selling Houses Australia

Tips to Use Unusual Spaces

Many houses have wasted space. Shaynna Blaze shows you how to unlock these areas potential!

So many houses I see have wasted space. Strange little nooks, oversized landings or a useless spot under the stairs. But these areas needn’t be dust collectors - you just need to unlock the potential.

We often use these areas for storage, which can be fine if it’s somewhere awkward like under the stairs or attics, but even those spaces can be so much more with creative thinking and it’s also a great excuse to clear out the junk. Don’t let the current status of a room cloud the possibilities!

  • An adjoining room, perhaps previously a child’s bedroom, can easily convert into a classy feature such as a walk-in robe or even dressing room.
  • With so many people working from home these days, a home office or study is essential. But you don’t always have to sacrifice a whole room. They can fit perfectly into that little corner. Some areas are just made for the home office. With some clever ideas, you can even hide your work space totally from view.
  • If you are going to create a storage area, make it appealing and practical, not just a dumping ground. Shelving often fits well into a quirky shaped area and can look fantastic.

So take a look around your place and see if you’ve missed an opportunity! You never know, your home office or walk in robe could be right under your nose or under the stairs.
