These patterns are the must-have interior trends for the year ahead

Meet your new interior trend bible!

Patternbank’s annual Print Trend Report for autumn/winter 2017/18 has been released with a new and exciting interiors focus.

Trawling the globe and analysing the world of patterns, art and design, the Patternbank team have identifyed four overarching interior trends for the year ahead.

If renovating is on the horizon or you’re feeling an itch to redecorate, you might want to consider the following design directions.

Opulent

Epitomising luxury, the opulent trend is teeming with gold, trailing florals and eclectic patterns. Split into three sub categories, Gold Glamour, Over Decorated and Floral Treasures, Opulent seamlessly amalgamates soft femininity with unapologetic indulgence.

When decorating, think metallic accents, clashing patterns and whimsical florals.

Glam

With bold graphics and clashing colours, this interior trend is anything but boring. Divided into three macro trends, Colourblock, Post Modern and Rainbow Glow, Glam encapsulates kaleidoscopic hues, iridescent surfaces, abstract shapes and kitschy metallics.

Get the look with Miami Pantones, palm trees and bold geometric shapes.

Nature

Inject originality into your home by throwing the rule book out the window. Subdivided into the categories, From Nature, Surprise and Colour Merge, the Nature interior trend forces you to reimagine a room and take an expressive, earthy and surreal approach.

Incorporate mixed marbles, crystallised geodes and layered colours for a Nature-inpired aesthetic.

Wilderness

Inspired by nature’s delights, the Wilderness trend brings the lush outdoors in. Split into three macro trends, Animated Jungle, Plant Life and Woven Worlds, Wilderness celebrates craftsmanship, natural fibres and moody hues.

Think sweeping murals, textured tapestries and tumbling plants when decorating.
