Thinking of using wallpaper in your home? Follow these tips from Shaynna before you get started.
When it comes to wallpaper these days, the world really is your oyster. There are literally thousands of beautiful wallpapers with texture, colour and patterns to choose from. But there are some things to keep in mind before you make your all-important choice.
1. If you’re looking at selecting wallpaper with a pattern, always consider the pattern repeat. This means how far the pattern exists horizontally and vertically.
2. The bigger the pattern repeat, the more likely it is you’ll generate more offcuts and wastage as you adjust it to join properly. This will of course depend on the area you are trying to cover, so take it into consideration before making your choice.
3. Once you’ve got your pattern sorted – stand back and look at your finished wall – or in the case of textured wallpaper – get up close and have a feel!
4. If you’re hanging your own wallpaper, be confident in what you’re doing. There are a lot of calculations involved, so you might want to read up online or take a course. And if you’re not confident, get a professional. It might end up saving you the cost and stress of getting it wrong.
