Soak in your outside surroundings to help you make some inspired colour choices inside.
Design inspiration can come from just about anywhere. But for me, a lot of what I do inside, is about creating a connection with what’s going on outside.
The natural beauty of the outdoors provides so many different ways to inspire your interiors.
One major element i draw inspiration from is colour.
If there’s a colour that features in your outdoor environment, grab it and run with it inside. It’s one of the simplest ways to create connections and continuity with your interiors.
For example in the Miami Queensland house, the pool is the major feature of the yard. So the blue water was my inspiration for the tiles of the kitchen splashback and a few other elements in the house.
You don’t have to have a massive feature such as a pool to create connections with colour. Inspiration can come simple from your favourite tree or plants in your garden.
If you have a green thumb, this is the perfect opportunity to bring your passion indoors. It can inspire everything from your wall art choices… to your bed linen.
And what about the environment of your suburb as a whole? That can be yet another inspiration for your interior colour scheme.
- Beach suburbs beg for beachy colours.
- Urban areas urge a crisp, industrial feel.
- The bush brings nature-inspired colour schemes.
The world really is your oyster!
