Selling Houses Australia

Shaynna Blaze's editor's letter

It's really hit me. Selling Houses Australia isn't ending... in fact, I feel like it's more popular than ever before!

They guys are as cheeky as ever! I think the three of us are more relaxed this year and we’ve actually had a lot more laughs than ever which is good, too.

It’s been so much fun, and while we’ve hit our stride of who we are together many years ago - this year just feels very comfortable, without taking it for granted.

This series there were a lot of really amazing properties and great people. For me, the most challenging reno was the heritage property in Balmain (week three).

Usually, when you have a heritage overlay, a lot of the listed elements are just exterior, but this one was interior, as well. Poor Charlie and I had a pretty tough time with what we could and couldn’t do, and what we could do was very expensive.

As a result, there were things we needed to compromise on to fit in with all of the restrictions - which proved fiddly. There was a lot of going back and forth, and to get that approval it had to be designed a couple of times.

The property downturn is a huge issue facing buyers and sellers right now, and I think that is going to make a big difference whether people are listing their homes on the market this year. We may even be seeing more people selling because they are forced to.

It's only just the beginning - and I know we will have even bigger stories next year.

Hope you enjoy series 12,
