Now this is how to keep things fresh and interesting in the bedroom!
Okay, it sounds a little dodgy, but I’m talking purely from a styling point of view when I share my tips for getting the most out of your bed.
From a very young age I was always moved by change - falling leaves in autumn, the beauty of spring as flowers begin to burst into full bloom.
I'd be caught in the moment - these changes affected me emotionally.
That had a massive influence on how I approach my job. I’m constantly in wonder at change and always try to bring evolution to my clients’ interiors.
People always want to feel good in their homes and, in my experience; change and evolution are big feel good factors in interior design.
Which brings me to bed linen. I recently designed a linen collection for Harris Scarfe.
The collection features two distinct looks; one has a formal, timelessly classic feel, the second has more of an everyday, casual, feel.
When I was working on the collection, my priority was to make sure the two looks worked interdependently, so each of the pieces could be layered and interchanged in multiple ways.
I wanted people to be in the moment as they put the pieces together, and for their styling to reflect their mood from one week to the next, rather than them worrying about creating a look that is Instagram-worthy!
So, my top tip for keeping things fresh and interesting in the bedroom (well, the only one I’m going to publish!) is to invest in a couple of sets of bed linen that play together nicely, complementing or contrasting one another.
That way, you can add a touch of elegance to every day style, or tone down a formal look depending on the combination of pieces you select.
This versatility allows you to update your look whenever the whim takes you, without having to constantly invest in new pieces. Now, that’s sexy!
