Selling Houses Australia: Andrew Winter's exciting news!

Andrew Winter has made an exciting announcement from the Gold Coast.

The host of Selling Houses Australia has finally started work on his dream home - a place he has been working on for months during the COVID crisis.

In an exclusive interview with LifeStyle, Andrew reveals how as he's battled with restrictions around filming Love It Or List It Australia he's used his time constructively to make sure his home build goes ahead.

Andrew sold his last home on the Gold Coast last year and bought some land near the beach.

"Construction has never stopped on my new place," he says. "Trades people have been allowed to come and go because they all work apart and there is limited risk to them from a COVID point of view."

"As a result, I have been around much more to enjoy this part of the process." he adds. "Watching the pool go in and seeing it all take shape has been incredibly satisfying."

And now work has finally started on the main house, not just the foundations.

Posting on Instagram, Andrew showed the first photos of his dream home and told his fans exactly what's been going on.

"The Winter family home build actually breaks out of the ground today," he wrote, adding that he hopes that the entire place will be finished by Christmas.

And Andrew is delighted that he is building on the Gold Coast, because he says it's in the middle of a property boom right now.

"I'm not just saying this because I live here," he says. "But South East Queensland and the Gold Coast are experiencing a real gold rush right now as far as house prices are concerned."

Although he admits the Australian property market isn't one he would be rushing to get into right now.

"Personally during this pandemic, I would be stepping back and not selling unless I had to because it's not clear what is going on.

"The exception would be as a First Home Buyer as banks are keen to lend and prices aren't probably going to rise too high.

"If you're up-sizers, trading up isn't a bad idea either right now," he adds. "But I would see what happens as the weeks go by and not rush into anything at all. If you have to sell, do that and wait a bit to see what happens."

He admits the house market is difficult to predict right now.

"Everyone thought that prices would drop but they really haven't done that as much as was expected. In fact the market has been doing what we thought it wouldn't do! It certainly hasn't gone into hibernation."

But for Andrew, who is hoping to start filming a new season of Selling Houses Australia soon, his next few months are all about watching his own house take shape.

"I am never normally around as much as I am now because I'm always travelling with work," he says. "But as Love It Or List It Australia is taking a short filming break because of coronavirus, I am using this time to really watch what happens on site. I can't wait to watch it unfold."

And will he be asking his Selling Houses friends Shaynna Blaze or Charlie Albone to help him out with interior design and landscaping once the house is finished?

"I can't afford their prices!" he jokes.
