Selling Houses Australia

Selling Houses Australia Reno Recap: Waratah, NSW

The Logan family made plenty of memories in their 60s style Waratah home, but with four kids all under 11-years-old and just two bedrooms, it was time to upsize.

For owners Jarryd and Erica, it's the classic story of buying a first home, raising a family and moving on to the next house - but they seem to be stuck.

After having their home on the market for nine months, it generated little interest - and it's no wonder.

On the inside things were 'cosy yet crazy' with an abundance of toys in every room, while on the outside street appeal was lacking.

From the minute Andrew first walked in the door (after having a little trouble with the broken gate) it was clear the whole house needed a makeover.

The biggest obstacle for Charlie and Shaynna to overcome? Not over capitalising on the renovation of a home that will remain modestly priced.

While Jarryd had his hopes set on selling for $580,000 it wasn't looking promising. But the Selling Houses team love a challenge and set to work on opening up the floor plan and connecting the inside and the outside living areas.

Despite not being able to push the budget to the bathroom, the end result shows just how much can be done to improve a small space.

The removal of just one wall and a window totally transformed the kitchen, while some style statements throughout created different 'zones'.

The backyard even transformed into a family friendy entertaining space.

The Verdict:

As it turned out, Jarryd was right all along about being able to reach over $600,000 - just! The Logan family home sold for just over at $605,000 and sold before their planned auction. Needless to say, the couple are extremely happy with the result.
