Selling Houses Australia

Reno Recap: The Gap, QLD

The Selling Houses Australia team certainly love a challenge and they finished off the season with their biggest one yet - a grand Queenslander!

Homeowners Sandie and Tony not only sold their Queensland home, but they got the offer they were after thanks to the incredible work by Andrew, Charlie and Shaynna.

Realted: Win! An $11,00 family pamper package!

This couple’s retreat-style home located in The Gap, wasn’t your average property sale or your average renovation either!

While Sandie and Tony loved their house and happily raised their three sons there, it became too big for the empty nesters and Sandie simply didn't want to clean a house that big anymore.

Then couple were also keen to move somewhere more comfortable for their animals including their beautiful dog Bear, who can’t climb the home’s many stairs on his own.

After having their home on the market for over a year and dropping their price to $2.6 million, they still had hardly any offers and quite simply, they were stumped.

So, with a big budget of $160,000 the Selling Houses Australia team needed to make this renovation work.

Over two weeks the team used a lot of man power and a lot of paint to totally transform this house and, boy was it worth it!

Not only did they give the house a completely updated look, they also bought all of the beautiful craftsmanship in the home back to life – giving it even more sophistication and charm.

Apart from the massive paint job – the renovation included a full kitchen and bathroom makeover with absolutely stunning results and one that Shaynna's dubbed her favourite makeover of the series.

“The finale house at The Gap has to be a favourite because we got to do the kitchen and the bathroom makeover,” Shaynna tells LifeStyle.com.au.

“We haven't had an episode this whole series when we'd done both, so this was just like grandeur, and you don't get many episodes where you can do full grandeur - that's why I love that episode.”

From the lavish bathroom finishes in the newly renovated ensuite to the full-scale island bench in the new entertainer’s kitchen, Shaynna’s incredible indoor renovation took this house from dated to total real estate goals.

Meanwhile, on the outside Charlie and team used over 150 litres of paint on the roof alone to give this home a fresh, modern look and it worked like a charm.

While the garden’s were beautifully kept thanks to Tony’s years of hard work, Charlie still had to work on creating a seamless indoor, outdoor setting.

The small changes he added to the balcony sitting area and the outdoor kitchen certainly did the trick.

The verdict:

Thanks to a lick of paint - and a lot of it - and some updated interiors, Sandie and Tony happily accepted an offer of $2.8 million after being on the market for just a few weeks after the renovation was complete.
