Selling Houses Australia

Reno Recap: Kaniva, VIC

While this successful renovation didn't result in a successful sale, the Kaniva community couldn't have been prouder of their new local pub!

Club Hotel Kaniva now has it all from a sophisticated dining room and bar to a beautiful beer garden, thanks to the Selling Houses Australia team.

But this one wasn’t your ordinary episode of Selling Houses Australia. The team undertook a huge renovation and a much bigger challenge which impacted everyone in the Kaniva community.

All-in-all this massive renovation was a big success, but it did come with a lot of hard work from the team and owners Jacquie and John.

After settling on a budget of $60,000 for this makeover – a lot of money to spend on a country pub – the team got to work.

While John was sad to see the old bar go, Shaynna was happy to be out with the old and in with the sophisticated and practical.

Throughout the pub, Shaynna nailed the community spirit of Kaniva, keeping all of the memorabilia on the walls and creating a family-friendly place to eat out.

The appalling old carpet throughout has gone, being replaced with a much more welcoming option and an injection of colour in the dining area really made a big impact.

As last drinks were called on the old, dated pub, the refurbished hotel now has the community loving their local even more than before.

But the biggest change of the Hotel was the beer garden. Charlie transformed this underutilised area from a blank canvas, to a practical and gorgeous gathering place to meet with friends.

It’s also the new home of the show-stopper of the whole renovation – the magnificent mural by local artist Callum Warren.

The artwork not only captured the Aussie spirit but the hearts of the whole community, especially Jacquie who revealed she had a personal connection to the piece.

This heartfelt renovation, really did have it all and the best part is, owners Jacquie and John and the wider Kaniva community loved  it!

The verdict:

While the renovation of the pub was a complete success, the owners are yet to sell. Their asking price for the building and the business is $430,000 and it's still on the market.
