Selling Houses Australia

Reno Recap: Glenelg, SA

Port Adelaide fanatics Chrissy and Sao had the location right, but the décor horribly wrong.

Luckily, the Selling Houses Australia team unlocked this home’s potential.

This 1960s home in the lovely beachside suburb of Glenelg should have been an easy sale. But after 6 months on the market, they hardly had a look in.

For homeowners Sao and Chrissy, their house lacked the homely feel it desperately needed to sell. Instead it was a shrine full of memorabilia dedicated to Port Adeliade, the team the girls have supported for more than 20 years and smelt of tobacco and dog.

Luckily, Andrew, Shaynna and Charlie knew just what to do to get this house on the market and sold for the right price.

With a healthy budget of $30,000 and the full trust of Chrissy and Sao to get it sold, the team could finally give this home the full potential it needed to sell.

Shaynna’s addition of French doors leading out on to the outdoor area were exactly what was needed to bring light into the home making it feel fresh and bright.

The subtle tones of blue on the walls throughout and in the décor gave a gentle nod to the pair’s passion for Port Adelaide (without flags and jerseys adorning every wall!).

Sprucing up the kitchen gave the whole home a facelift, creating a space that felt big and modern.

On the outside, Charlie focussed on street appeal finally giving this house pride of place in the neighbourhood street full of stylishly rebuilt or renovated houses.

On such a big block, the landscaping took a lot of hard work, so luckily Charlie had some help from the girls and a couple of their favourite Port players.

With not a lot of money left to spend at the back, Charlie just added a few small ‘Shaynnaisms’ to his styling to complete the job.

Some clever resurfacing in the kitchen, the addition of a functional third bedroom with study and a full paint job on the roof and exterior of the home, helped to get this property over the line with buyers.

The Verdict:

Although the team was worried the girls wouldn’t be able to keep the house smoke and dog free before the open home, they did!

Selling for $655,000 Chrissy and Sao can finally move on to living a debt-free life.
