Selling Houses Australia

Reno Recap: Dolphin Point, NSW

In this emotionally-charged reno, the team must put their best foot forward to help a family in need.

Serena, Steve and their four children have loved the last 15 years living on the coast south of Ulladulla. Their five-bedroom, 1960s clifftop beach house has amazing sea views, but it's now time to regrettably sell their home.

A few years ago their world was rocked when youngest son, Liam contracted encephalitis (inflammation on the brain). He was placed in an induced coma for three months and had to re-learn how to walk, talk and surf. The family have decided to list their home on the market in a bid to afford his ongoing medical bills.

After 12 months on the market, the property still hadn’t sold. Originally, listed at $1.3 million, the family dropped the price to $1.18 million after getting no bites. Now they’re at the point where they just want a sale and will take anything around the million-dollar mark. Can the team get a new buyer over the line?

The verdict

Despite their agent suggesting an auction campaign, Serena and Steve were delighted to recieve multiple offers, finally settling on a sale price of $1.2 million before their second open home. Steve described the result as "life-changing" - and felt so grateful for everything the team had done to achieve a sale.
