Selling Houses Australia

Reno Recap: Deception Bay, QLD

When Andrew dubs it the ‘ugliest house’ he’s ever some across, you know it’s going to be a tricky renovation.

But despite the challenges this house presented to the Selling Houses Australia team – the end result was certainly worth it.

Homeowner Narelle, who had lived in her Deception Bay home for more than 35-years, had grown comfortable with the layout of her house.

In fact, she didn’t see a great deal wrong with it. But after five months on the market and not a lot of interest, the Selling Houses Australia team were called in to make the unthinkable possible.

For Shaynna and Charlie, first impressions last and neither of them were too keen on sticking around for this renovation. Especially with a small budget of $25,000.

While the team has worked with similar budgets before this home has a lot of changes to be made to fix the floorplan.

Luckily, Andrew saw past the quirky faults of the home and convinced them to get on with it. Even putting some work boots on himself to get the job done.

There was a lot that Shaynna could do – but without the budget to relocate the kitchen she had to work with what she had.

But in true Shaynna style the home has been completely transformed feeling much fresher and brighter. And not a whisky bottle in sight!

Shaynna has said goodbye to the retro, dated look by installing new flooring and the new paint and styling have made a world of difference.

She also got away with leaving the kitchen where it was and introduced a lovely fourth bedroom, creating a home much more suited to young families.

And while Andrew offered a helping hand – it’s probably best he sticks to selling houses.

Meanwhile on the outside, Charlie’s new deck and plants out the back have created a lovely sitting area.

The lovely new façade has even made this unique house look more inviting from the street. A change that potential buyers really took a liking too.

The verdict:

After not so much as an enquiry before, the newly renovated house had a staggering 35 inspections. After multiple offers Narelle was able to sell for $372,103, no less.
