In Hong Kong, to promote a new Swedish meatball pizza, IKEA and Pizza Hut have joined forces to create a real, functioning little white pizza table.
No one knows what they're called, but everyone who has ordered a pizza knows what they are: the little white tables that create a barrier and prevent the top of the pizza box from sticking to the hot cheese. They're cute and practical.
Now in Hong Kong, IKEA and Pizza Hut are collaborating to release The Säva, an exact flat-pack, life-sized version of the mini table. So, now you can eat your pizza on your very own pizza table.
According to Design Boom, to make the table even more fun, the top and legs come delivered in its own pizza box.
“This campaign shows the playful side of Pizza Hut, and that our credentials can move beyond the kitchen into new and interesting collaborations with other brands,” said Pizza Hut Marketing Director Wendy Leung.
Not surprisingly, the promotional partnership has been a smashing success, selling 67 per cent of units almost immediately.
It's easy to imagine that both a pizza table and an IKEA Swedish meatball pizza would also be extremely popular in Australia, so fingers crossed it's just a matter of time.
