Did you know that a paint scraper actually has two functions, it all just depends on how you use your file to sharpen it?
For Use As A Paint Scraper
By filing the edge absolutely flat you end up with two sharp, well defined shoulders that really remove the paint very well without actually digging into the timber.
For Use As A Cabinet Scraper
For use as a cabinet scraper run the file across the edge of the blade, rather than up and down. This produces a very fine hook on one side which can smooth out rough pieces of timber brilliantly.
If you don't have an old well worn file then you will need to use something like the edge of a screwdriver.
