Love It or List It Australia is coming!
The hugely successful global series will be hitting our screens later this year, as Andrew Winter and Neale Whitaker join forces to help solve homeowners' dilemmas across the country.
Lifestyle viewers already know Andrew for his expert property advice on shows including Selling Houses Australia.
Neale, meanwhile, has been a judge on The Block and as Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Living magazine, a role he is stepping down from next month.
Love It or List It Australia follows renovation journeys, before the owners have to answer the ultimate question: Do they love their home enough to keep it, or do they want to list it for sale?
Filming is well under way in ten different houses across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, so we sat down with Neale to get an update on the show!
How is Love It or List It Australia different to other renovation shows?
It’s a completely different experience and not just because I’m a host with Andrew and not a judge. It’s working with the owners to sort out their dilemma.
What I love about it is the interaction between Andrew and myself. It’s a lot of fun because we’re competing with each other each episode.
In the process of competing with Andrew I’m also helping the couple or the family to sort out a dilemma with their own home and bringing my experience of the industry.
Will we see a different side to Neale?
I hope so. I’m laying more of myself bare and in the process I’m showing people that I do have more up my sleeve than judging. This show isn’t about judging it’s about finding solutions for people.
Selling Houses Australia's Andrew Winter.
Have you faced the stay or sell dilemma yourself?
Oh yes! This is a difficult one for me to talk about because I actually ended up listing!
I moved from an old terrace house to an apartment and on that particular occasion I’m afraid there were very strong reasons why I had to move out of the old house.
But under normal circumstances I always prefer to stay and renovate.
How competitive does it get with Andrew?
It does get competitive but in a very gentlemanly way. We both want to win, but we’re both Brits as well so we do things in that very gentlemanly way.
He’s a lot of fun to work with and we share a very similar sense of humour and we both understand each other's areas of expertise.
There's no way I can compete with his astounding knowledge of real estate and I don’t think he can compete with my knowledge of design - he may differ on that!
The loser does a forfeit but I can’t reveal what they are. I think they will get progressively more ambitious and unusual as the series goes on.
Love It or List It Australia starts on Lifestyle later this year and you can catch Love It or List It Vancouver on Lifestyle Home, Mondays at 7.30pm.
