Will 2013 bring terrible trends in décor, will it break new ground or will it just be more of the same? Here’s what Eco Chic's founder's Cris Bucknall and Paula Breckman are predicting will be big or emerging in style trends in 2013.
We have seen a lot of fondant shades, delicate touches and feminine finishes over the last three years, so it’s not surprising the pendulum is swinging in favour of the men in our lives who probably prefer leather to lace.
Expect pin stripes on walls and on fabric, dark leather making a return, and a Gentlemen’s Club flavour emerging for lounge rooms and libraries. Check out our Darcy range of sofas and armchairs.
Yellow and gold will be prominent tones, used especially for accents and accessories, sometimes even for large items such as sofas. Gilding on wallpaper and for details on pictures and mirrors will be especially popular. Eco Chic’s sunshine inspired outdoor rugs are the perfect accent homewares in golden shades.
Animals, birds and feathers will still feature prominently. It’s amazing how long this bird trend has lasted!
This year it’s hello to gaudy parrots and peacocks and goodbye to owls and ostriches.
Feather details are tipped for the top and elephants forecast to be big!
We’ve always loved these and are delighted their time is now. These fabrics are traditionally made in Central Asia and were originally tribal and made by brides to be used as dowries for their wedding.
Suzani fabrics are usually made with a cotton or silk base with cotton embroidery in beautiful bright large patterned designs. Eco Chic loves Suzani fabrics as cushions, throws, and used for upholstering vintage headboards, sideboards, tables, consoles and armchairs. Eco Chic currently has a beautiful bespoke bench in black and white Suzani fabric.
Luxe, opulence, over-the-top lavishness.
Hollywood Noir is all about pattern, padding, layers and colour. Rich shiny wallpapers, velvet fabrics and metallic overtones.
Think Black Dahlia rather than Days of Wine and Roses!
This graceful platinum velvet vintage Château headboard will add authentic old world elegance to give a real boudoir feel.
