Introducing Cool and Warm Neutrals Into Your Home

Shaynna Blaze helps you choose the right colour for your home.

On-trend colours are the buzz in the design industry and you can have them in your very own home.

Here are some tips to pick the best colour for your room:

Consider Other Features in the Room

Sometimes other dominant surfaces in a room - like floors or feature walls - can impact which colours will work.

For example, if you have dark timber floorboards, cool grey or white walls will look stark in comparison.

Offset the warm tones in the flooring, with a warm neutral colour on your walls.

Try Before You Buy

All good paint stores will have colour pots or small samples for you to purchase and try at home.

However, don't paint your swatches straight on the wall. Try them first on a sheet of white cardboard to see the true colour.

Don't Rush Into it

Once you have your swatches, make sure you sit with them for a couple of days - you may just change your mind on your favourite.

Take the time to look at how the colours appear at different times of day, in different lighting.

Once you've settled confidently on a decision - get painting!
