How To Reupholster Furniture

Bring your furniture back to life with this guide from Shaynna Blaze.

It’s wise to buy furniture that will last 20 to 30 years… but you may not want the same colour or pattern for that long.

Reupholstering your furniture is the perfect way to bring it back to life.

1. The type of pattern and colour you choose can play a part in establishing the whole mood of a room.

2. With fabrics, it’s all about durability, which can be determined by the rub count. Lower count fabrics (10,000) are used for drapery or cushions while higher count fabrics (200,000) are used for commercial purposes.

3. Think carefully about how your furniture is used – rarely such as in a formal room? Or by kids and pets every day? This should influence the fabric durability you go for.

4. Higher rub count doesn’t necessarily mean a higher cost. Be smart and don’t be afraid to ask for tips. Quality fabric suppliers will be happy to ensure you get the right fabric for your needs.
